I know we should never talk about Rihanna in terms of “just like us” but seeing these pictures of her heading to CVS with all three of her babies in New York when she could have totally asked a member of her team to go get whatever it was that she needed… is maybe more “us” than so many other celebrities? Sort of?
She has security with her, I know, and that’s not how civilian parents roll and she certainly doesn’t have to worry about what’s on sale at the drug store and how it might affect her budget and bank account but, again, she’s shopping at CVS! CVS is definitely not exclusive and she can literally afford to buy all the CVSes in Manhattan if she wanted to.
But this has always been what she’s said about trying to be as out there as possible, she goes to CVS because she wants to, and on some level she might enjoy it – which, of course, is in its own way a privilege because a working middle class mother probably wouldn’t describe a trip to CVS with three babies as an “enjoyable” experience. Still, it is amusing to see Rihanna, and not infrequently, doing regular degular sh-t. In a Chanel ballcap, hahahha.
What else happened today…
I mentioned it earlier this week, for at least a week now there’s been a persistent rumour that Justin Bieber will be part of the FIFA World Cup halftime show – and now it’s confirmed. Plus Burna Boy and a school choir joining Coldplay. That is a lot of artists in a short amount of time. (The Wrap)
All the pretty patterns at the Moana event. (Go Fug Yourself)
Can’t Adam Sandler just play pickup in Nantucket in peace? (Celebitchy)
Yesterday’s Argentina-Egypt match was chaos. Until, as Jordan Ritter Conn writes, a football deity decided he wasn’t ready to go home. (The Ringer)
There’s been movement in the Britney biopic which is good news… Liz Meriwether is writing the screenplay. Exactly the kind of person of a certain generation of a certain cultural appreciation that should be writing it! (The Cut)
