Is it her time?

I hope it’s her time. Because I’m obsessed with Zoe Kravitz. Zoe is currently promoting Rough Night, opening tomorrow. She’s on the cover of The Edit. My. God. Look at her.

She’s the daughter of Lisa Bonet and Lenny Kravitz. So, of course, OF COURSE it’s “my God”. But only from the outside. As she tells the magazine about her experience living in Miami:

"I really didn't fit in there," she admits. "There were all these hot blond girls with boobs, Louis Vuitton purses and cell phones, and I was this mixed-race girl with crazy kinky hair that didn't know how to relate."

"When your dad and your mom [actress Lisa Bonet] are both so cool, but you're not... I think maybe that's where I get this idea that I'm really not cool -- that has stuck with me forever," she continues.

I get that, completely. Especially in Hollywood where even Zoe Kravitz can only be one thing:

“I’m sure it would still happen now. When my name is brought up in a casting office, I’m sure the fact that I’m black comes up in discussions. I just read a script in which there were two couples, and one was written as black. When I talked to the directors, they said I should play the wife of the black guy. It’s insane that they still think the black girl needs to be married to the black guy, and everyone else is white. Their thinking is so compartmentalized.”

But it’s her time now, isn’t it? In addition to Big Little Lies and Rough Night, Zoe Kravitz is going to be a Lestrange in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel. We’re going to get a lot more Zoe Kravitz.

In other Zoe news, I mentioned a few weeks ago that we haven’t seen her with Karl Glusman in some time. She told The Edit they’re still together:

“We’re happy, he’s wonderful.”

And check out what he last posted about her on Instagram:

Let's get old together.

That did not help my obsession with them at all.
