Here’s what I forgot to mention when I posted about the Chanel presentation yesterday: Janelle Monae wearing Chanel as an homage to herself in Chanel, by Karl Lagerfeld of course. This is Janelle’s most recent Chanel outfit:

As Kathleen wrote of that look at the time, Karl may not have designed those pieces from the Metiers D’Art pre-fall 2019 collection specifically for Janelle but no one should be wearing them after her – she owns them now, all iterations of them.
No one else at Paris Fashion Week this week has brought like it like Janelle. Every outfit from every house she was invited to see is special, memorable, completely hers. And every outfit is worn with lightness and playfulness and sass and this is why they all want her in their clothes. She is the best showcase for them.
