I just had to check how long it’s been since Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum announced their separation. It was actually a month ago yesterday. A month. Has it felt like a month? Just a month? Because I was thinking it happened in February. For some people, when the news first broke, the reaction was “NOOOOO….LOVE IS OVER”. I don’t know if I was that emotionally invested but if you were, are you over it yet?
Jenna is currently promoting World Of Dance with Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough. They all made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Ellen made the mistake of introducing her as “Jenna Dewan Tatum” instead of “Jenna Dewan”. Then she apologised for it. Is it just me or does Jenna’s voice get a little wobbly when she talks about how wonderful and supportive people have been? This is still raw for her. But the ring is gone. The name has changed. She’s making moves. Does that mean, though, that he did her dirty? I mean it’s Hollywood and that’s always the default assumption, I get it. In this case though, given that Jenna and Channing are still business partners and that she released a statement denying that he cheated on her, I wonder if this is the dull, unspectacular reality of relationships – that resentments can build over the mundane: work, scheduling, childcare, self-care. Look what’s happening to Bow and Dre on black-ish (sob!).
A new season on World Of Dance then is also a new season for Jenna Dewan. With a little bit of a throwback. That headband, can you see it? I almost missed it because I was too busy admiring the ruching in that leather pencil skirt she wore the other day and since her hair is so dark but look closely – the band is placed closer to the forehead than where a headband usually sits. You like it? I think I like it a lot. I think I want to try it.
