Jennifer Lawrence made an appearance at the WWD Honors event last night in New York City where Maria Grazia Chiuri was honoured. Maria is the creative director of Dior and JLaw has been working with Maria in her role as Dior ambassador for years. So it totally tracks for Jennifer to be there even though it’s also convenient because her movie, No Hard Feelings, just started streaming on Netflix this week. In this case the convenience does NOT come with a conspiracy. So let’s just talk about the look.
This is a great black dress on her, Dior obviously. And Dior, on JLaw, isn’t usually all that exciting. I’m not saying this LBD is exciting, but it’s beautifully tailored, I love the way it fits off her shoulder and how the belt pulls it all together. Not sure why she chose to go with those shoes but it’s not a huge takeaway.
The standout, however, is her hair and makeup. Classic middle-part low pony to expose the big beautiful glow of her face. Credit to the glam squad here because this is excellent work, wow.
The eyes are simple, just a light neutral shadow on the lid and maybe along the lower lash line, and a good strong brow, but mostly what we’re doing here is just lashes. Lashes to open the up the eyes, and the eyes make the skin glow even more. Her skin looks amazing. And not overly contoured – I hope we’re over that sh-t now. Then the red lip to finish it off…
So good, right?
