Jeremy Renner is currently on press tour for his book, My Next Breath, and if you’re familiar with the terrible accident he was in a couple of years ago, the title should make sense. He almost died – and he believes he actually did die for a brief moment. Us Weekly has an excerpt from the part of his memoir where he describes the experience; I don’t know why I read it, it freaked me out.
I don’t want to read about dying because then I imagine dying and I don’t want to imagine dying. That said, this is the passage that convinced me he wrote it himself, at least that section:
“When I died, what I felt was energy, a constantly connected, beautiful and fantastic energy. There was no time, place, or space, and nothing to see, except a kind of electric, two-way vision made from strands of that inconceivable energy.”
Can’t you picture that sequence of words coming out of his mouth? Or Matthew McConaughey’s?
On a related note… sort of? Jeremy was on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night and they did a social media post about the snap, as in when Thanos snaps and disappears half of the world.
Clint aka Hawkeye doesn’t get snapped but Jeremy’s writing about it could apply to what it might have been like for those who did – suspended in energy, “no time, no time at all, yet it was also all time and forever”. Jeremy then says that a force compelled him not to “let go” and that’s when he undied. It’s his version of seeing the light and then coming back. The book represents what he took away from the experience and the realisations he lives with as he moves on with his life…or second life. And why he wanted to share them.
What else happened today…
It’s a rare occasion when I’m underwhelmed with a Cate Blanchett outfit. The colour of this suit, olive green, I love, looks great on her. But everything else is kinda unremarkable and even seems a little… unfinished? (Go Fug Yourself)
I am still obsessed with Sinners and will read anything about the movie – while trying to avoid the sh-tty discourse about it. One of the conversations that’s happening on social media is to do with … Smoke or Stack? And how that, in itself, can be a thinkpiece. (Pajiba)
As Maria mentioned yesterday in her Celebrity Social Media post, one of the biggest gossip stories of the week is the scuffle between Bill Belichick and his girlfriend Jordan Hudson and CBS Sunday Morning because she interrupted the interview and supposedly delayed the whole process. And all the subsequent chatter about how much influence she might be exerting over him. As Nora Princiotti points out in this piece about the situation, Jordan claims she’s just trying to help Bill focus the coverage of the book on things that matter (to him) and not on their relationship… but she’s become the co-lead, one the main characters, or this story. Which, um, totally tracks. She’s an influencer after all. (The Ringer)
Glen Powell puts ketchup on his savoury waffles. I mean, the chicken waffles are a thing so… why not ketchup? (Celebitchy)
When Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney worked together, everyone was convinced that they were hooking up. Exit Glen Powell, enter Brandon Sklenar. Maria mentioned in Celebrity Social Media a couple of weeks ago if there’s an air of fetch about this guy. Are they trying too hard to make him the next big thing? (The Cut)
