I don’t know why green always shows up on red carpets in singles. As in, after award shows, there are often fashion headlines like, “the red parade at the Oscars!” or “silver storms the red carpet at the Golden Globes!. But… is it ever green? And if not, why not? When someone wears green, they’re often the only person wearing green. Maybe that’s just my impression though because whenever someone wears green, it makes an impression.
Jessica Chastain looked great in green last night at Critics’ Choice. The dress itself I could take or leave. But the colour on her, against her hair, is perfect.
It was a similar look in a different colour for Greta Gerwig. Greta also wore billowing pleats, only in white. Obviously I prefer Greta’s dress, because it leans into its shapelessness, it means to be shapeless, whereas it seems Jessica’s can’t decide if it wants to be loose or tight and is poorer for the indecision. Needless to say, I’m all about the heart details on Greta’s too.
