There have been rumours about John Mayer and Kiernan Shipka for over a year now. She was seen leaving his album listening party last summer and then early this year, in February, they were photographed after hugging each other goodbye at the Sunset Tower. This weekend it was a four-hour dinner at Giorgio Baldi – photos are at the Daily Mail.
According to the paps, John at one point sang to Kiernan during their meal. They left separately but apparently pulled over a few minutes later so that Kiernan could hop into John’s car and she ended up getting dropped off at home.
John is 45 years old, Kiernan is 22. Does Taylor Swift come to mind? She has a lyric on “All Too Well”:
“I’ll get older but your lovers stay my age”
That song was obviously about Jake Gyllenhaal but it could also apply to John who she also dated. And then there’s a more recent track from Midnights (3am Edition). On “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve”, believed to be about John, Taylor sings:
“Give me back my girlhood
It was mine first”
Maybe they’re just friends? Sure, but this is John Mayer so… ?
You know what else is gross though? The singing part. Maybe it’s just me but I can’t with that level of corny – someone singing to me during a meal. Like they’re sitting at a table with a candle in between them. And to add to the romance of it, he just breaks into “Your Body is a Wonderland”? Where do you look? Do you look him in the eye? For the entire song? I feel sick. But seriously, would this work on you?
