The Netflix Is A Joke comedy festival kicks off this weekend and one of the centerpiece events is a six-part live special called John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s In L.A., hosted by John Mulaney.

Every year comedians bitch about this fest, particularly how it’s organized, and yet, a million comedians are performing over the course of the week, including some who have bitched about it to my face. Way to stick to your principles, guys! You can see the full lineup here, it’s bananas, and here is John Mulaney dressed like a used car salesman to pitch his live special event:

The PR email I got about this event lists David Letterman, Nate Bargatze, Jerry Seinfeld, Jon Stewart, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Patton Oswalt, Ronny Chieng, Sarah Silverman, Tom Segura, Bill Hader, Hannah Gadsby, Cedric the Entertainer, and Mae Martin among the comedians appearing in the special(s), as well as musicians Flea, Beck, Weezer, St. Vincent, Ray J, Los Lobos, and Warren G. There are also guests such as Marcia Clark, John Carpenter, seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones, and Dr. Emily Lindsey of the La Brea Tar Pits. Oh, are we going to get a science lesson? I love the La Brea Tar Pits!

The PR announcement ends: There will be more guests as well, but we are tired of listing them. We have given you enough information already. Netflix Publicity has jokes!

Everybody’s In L.A. debuts live on May 3 at 7 PM PT/10 PM ET, and then airs additional episodes May 6-10 at the same time (also live). Here’s Mulaney going into Jimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday to hype the event and his own show at the Hollywood Bowl as part of the festival.

Stevie Wonder was also on the show last night, performing with Gary Clark, Jr.

Speaking of John Mulaney, his ex-wife, Anna Marie Tendler, has a memoir due this August called Men Have Called Her Crazy, which is billed as a “powerful memoir that reckons with mental health as well as the insidious ways men impact the lives of women”. That’s going to be a wild read.
