Justin Timberlake was part of the Oscar season last year because of that song from Trolls. We’ll come back to the song in a minute. For now, this is about JT’s acting. He worked with Woody Allen last year on Wonder Wheel. Wonder Wheel will be the closing film at the New York Film Festival in October. Wonder Wheel (also starring Kate Winslet, Jim Belushi, and Juno Temple) is part of the production deal that Woody signed with Amazon. And in big industry news today, Amazon just announced that it will be taking over their own distribution. Previously Amazon relied on distribution partners to release their films. With this move, Amazon will now function in all respects like a proper studio. Wonder Wheel is scheduled to open in theatres on December 1 and, as you know, a Woody Allen film around holiday season means that Amazon certainly expects it to be a factor during awards season. And Amazon has the money to put into an aggressive Oscar campaign. So, just a heads up. We might be in for a lot of JT this fall. And he will be smug as f-ck, especially if he’s out there fronting a film that’s being considered a contender.
Here’s JT walking around New York yesterday and today. A couple of days ago, a reader called Susan sent me a link to a video that made me laugh and I really wanted to post but I had no new photos to use. It’s like he heard me. Remember when Can’t Stop The Feeling was named the Worst Song of 2016? Not that you needed to be convinced of it but here’s further confirmation:
