Dear Gossips,

For weeks now people have been waiting on Kanye West’s album, Donda, with speculation mounting that he was holding the drop to compete with Drake, whose own album, Certified Lover Boy, is also expected to come out soon.

After yet another listening event last week, the most controversial of them all, featuring guest appearances by Kim Kardashian, Da Baby, and Marilyn Manson, Donda was finally available to stream yesterday…although that too appears to be an issue because Kanye posted this on Instagram:

“Jail 2” initially wasn’t included on the track list but ended up getting added later in the day. That’s the song with contributions from Da Baby and Marilyn Manson. It wouldn’t be Kanye if it wasn’t drama, and the drama often overshadows the art. There’s some great music involving non-homophobes and non-accused sexual abusers on Donda, but I don’t know if that’s the main story right now.

Drake is still part of the story, though, because there are some lyrics that appear to targeted at him on Donda and a few days ago, ahead of the alleged unauthorised release of Donda, this showed up on ESPN SportsCenter:

And just this morning, Drake confirmed – CLB will indeed be arriving on September 3:

Drake may not be able to meet a deadline, but he always knows how to self-promote. So while CLB and Donda aren’t same day releases, it will be a head-to-head same week release. Which means more posturing and, of course, more gossip. Just in time for the upcoming long weekend.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
