It’s the year of Taylor’s Eras, Beyoncé’s Renaissance, and Barbie, so yeah, let’s talk about the men of the year. The GQ Men of the Year, that is. Jacob Elordi is one of the cover features for MOTY, we’ve already heard from him, deep in his sourpuss phase. Tom Ford is also featured, as is Travis Scott—more on him coming later today.
The actual event was last night in London and as usual, had a massive turn out. The White Lotus’s Theo James was there wearing a douchey pair of sunglasses on the red carpet. Theo James might be perfectly nice in person—though he did not impress people when he was in Chicago filming the Divergent movies, but I try not to hold Divergent against anyone—but he has one of those faces, he just makes everything he wears look so douchey.
Also on hand was Oliver Jackson-Cohen—the Eighties-style loose suit really works for him, he’s so tall—as was Ted Lasso’s Phil Dunster; Ken #2 Kingsley Ben-Adir; Andrew Scott (maybe gearing up for an Oscar run); and Ken #3 and the new Dr. Who, Ncuti Gatwa, wore a very Whovian outfit, a big-shouldered, double-breasted suit dress. VERY stylish. Newlywed Jack Antonoff was also there, sans wife Margaret Qualley, and recently single Joe Alwyn showed up, too.
As for women celebrating MOTY, Sheila Atim worked the hell out of a cone-bra dress and graced Oliver Jackson-Cohen with her presence; Sophia Di Martino showed up fresh off Loki; and there was Maisie Williams; Daisy Edgar-Jones; Jodie Turner-Smith; Phoebe Bridgers with boygenius bandmates Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus; Nia DaCosta rebounding from The Marvels as a sexy Goth; and a Fleabag reunion between Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott.
There was also Emma Corrin in a great color combination of neon yellow and navy, posing with Dan Levy, and the moment I know will do it for a lot of you, a mini-The Bear reunion with Jeremy Allen White and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (wearing almost identical outfits). Consider this your weekly dose of JAW.
