The celebrity news cycle this morning is up in the sky, but I prefer my celebrity news from the ground. So we’ll stay in the desert with some select Coachella coverage – this is for Jacek who is posting today and seeing one of his faves kick off the morning might be a good sign for the rest of the week.

Lori Harvey and Teyana Taylor were hanging out the other night and it’s not just that they look unfairly hot, seeing them there at the festival, along with other Black female stars, like Cardi B and Winnie Harlow and also Megan Thee Stallion who was a headliner last night reminded me on an article I read a few years ago by Terri Burns for Teen Vogue about the experience of being Black at Coachella

That was back in 2017, in the first year of the first Trump administration when the audience at Coachella was still predominantly white. A year before Beychella when Beyoncé cheekily informed her audience that she was the first Black woman to headline the festival. And then proceeded to center her entire performance around her Blackness. Here’s another piece by Tomi Obaro about how Beyoncé’s performance was an artistic and “brilliant rebuke of the whiteness of most music festivals”. We are now in the first year of Trump’s second administration – has it changed at Coachella?

Lori and Teyana are celebrities and I know a celebrity’s experience anywhere is not what it’s like for someone non-famous. But my point is to point out that they had a presence there, which is important – if, that is, we continue to buy into the idea that Coachella is a significant cultural event. Given how much attention was paid to the festival this weekend, there are a lot of people who still think it is.

In other Teyana news, she was at Coachella with Revolve – and her outfit, while she looks great, is giving us some gossip because note the letter on her belly chain.

Many have commented that it looks like an “A”… for… Aaron Pierre? It’s been just over a month since they hard-launched their relationship – Aaron wasn’t at Coachella because he’s prepping for Green Lantern but he did send a message, posting this photo to IG stories:

Aaron Pierre's Stories

A thirst trap, yes. And appreciated. Bigger version of the photo below. Also note the song he’s using, Dexta Daps’s “Owner”. And if you’re not familiar, it’s a horny command, the chorus goes, “Bring it to the owner, now” – the owner being, well, him and the “it” being… her pussy, LOL.

Teyana was out here recently talking about getting her “back blown out in peace”  and… well… no doubt!
