The Sussexes made their first official joint appearance of the year today in Birkenhead, unveiling a plaque at Hamilton Square to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the death of Wilfrid Owen and visiting with community groups and local businesses. During the walkabout, Meghan Markle apparently revealed her due date:
“We asked her how her pregnancy was going and she said she was six months and she tapped her tummy,” well-wisher Carla Gandy from nearby Wallasey, who was there with her 4-year-old daughter Sofia, tells PEOPLE.
Meghan told others gathered in Hamilton Square that she’s due in late April.
She was also asked if she’s having a boy or a girl.
Kitty Dudley, 9, from St Anne’s Primary School in nearby Rockferry, said, “Meghan came up to me and asked me how old I was and where I went to school. I could see her bump and I asked if she was having a boy or a girl and she said, ‘We don’t know whether it’s a boy or girl, we are keeping it as a surprise.’ “
Kids are great gossip tools, non? Kids get away with asking sh-t adults can’t.
Busy week ahead for Royal Meghan. On Wednesday she’ll visit Mayhew, one of the four patronages announced last week. Mayhew is an animal welfare charity and it’ll be her first public visit, meeting with staff and volunteers to raise awareness about their initiatives. I imagine there should be some great pictures coming out of that visit. It’s always a good photo opp when Prince Harry poses with dogs. Now it’s Meghan’s turn. After Mayhew, Meghan and Harry are then scheduled to attend the premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s Totem, a benefit performance in support of Sentebale.
Let’s stay with today though and this outfit – all Canadian brands. I do like the red and purple here. It’s a refreshing change from all her neutrals and thus, by her standards anyway, a bold – and better – combination. Also, as you can see in some of these shots, Royal Meghan is the most determined celebrity belly-cupper that we’ve had in recent memory.
