Mel B was on Piers Morgan’s new show for an episode that will air later this year and confirmed – seemingly reluctantly – when he asked that she and Geri Halliwell, now Horner, aka Ginger Spice, had sex one night. Piers aired the clip on Good Morning Britain: 

 

Is this good gossip? It’s definitely gossip, the way Lauryn Hill and Wyclef were gossip when The Fugees were still together. And of course the way all the Fleetwood Mac affairs were gossip – which is a natural segue to Taylor Jenkins Reid’s new book, Daisy Jones & The Six, the “inside story” of the internal drama told in rock oral history formal about a fictional band. Has there ever been a satisfying oral history of the Spice Girls? Or do we think we already know it all? I don’t think we know it all. But … we did know this. 

Back in 2003, during an interview with Howard Stern, Geri revealed that:

“I had lesbian sex once. I realised quickly I was not a lesbian. I don’t mind boobs but the other bit is not my cup of tea. I didn’t like the lesbian thing. It is part of experimenting. I was drunk at the time. I could never ever say who it was. I don’t think she was a lesbian either. I’m going to leave the rest to your imagination.”

You can imagine Howard’s imagination after that. I don’t want to but I can almost hear him imagining it. 

So now Mel B has basically confirmed what Geri was telling us – that it was her, that it was them, and that it was one night of experimentation when they were young, not unlike the nights of experimenting that many of us have had in our youth. But now people are wondering whether or not Geri’s pissed because Mel went a step further and identified them whereas she in the past had held back. Conveniently Geri stepped out today in London to give us new pictures which the Daily Mail is describing as her looking “stern”. She doesn’t look all that stern to me. She looks pretty neutral. 

Still, it’s a story now. And they’re about to go on tour. And, oh look, extra tickets have just been released. Coincidence or conspiracy?
