Could this be the year after so many years? I dunno. I mean, she’s Meryl Streep. She is extraordinary. But there are many members of the Academy keenly aware that, really, she already has two of them. Still, a lot of it seems to be falling in the right place.

Meryl was in Washington this weekend for the Kennedy Centre Honours alongside fellow recipients Neil Diamond, Barbara Cook, Yo-Yo Ma, and Sonny Rollins. (Not the strongest dress selection from Hillary Clinton...) I love watching the Kennedy Centre Honours every year. There’s something really great about forcing them to squirm through their tribute in that box. And I imagine, being practical Meryl, that’s a little bit how it must have been for her. Oh, why all the fuss now...

Not sure exactly what they presented during Meryl’s section but both Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt were in attendance specifically to fete her and, frankly, I’d rather wait to see for myself on December 27th on CBS when it airs.
