Am I the only one who thought Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s MET Gala looks were a complete miss? They were both dressed by Michael Kors, with Camila channeling a Studio 54 vibe. I like the colour and disco falls under the theme, but I don’t think the cut of the dress is great. And Shawn’s dirty rocker thing, with his chest out, doesn’t read authentic — to me. But he did say he’s getting more comfortable with the concept of serving different looks depending on your mood that day, so he’s having fun with fashion as he develops his own personal style. Points for that.

Justin and Hailey Bieber certainly went for a more chic and subdued vibe for their first Met Gala together. Hailey’s wearing Saint Laurent and get this, Justin’s suit is by Maison Drew. As in, the fancy branch of his Drew House clothing line of t-shirts and sweatpants logoed by an obnoxious yellow smiley face. I guess they’re moving into formal wear? They did a good job with his suit because it looks great on him. It’s the best he’s dressed in a while. And these wide-leg pants are much better than the wide-leg jeans he wore at the VMAs on Sunday. Ugh. I don’t know if I’m ready for wide-legs to come back yet.

People are going to start rumours about her being pregnant after what he did with his hand there.

Another couple making their Met Gala debut: Taika Waititi and Rita Ora. She’s in Prada, and he’s rocking some jewelry of his own. Cameras caught them messing around with Jimmy Fallon on the carpet and, as Lainey and Sarah have pointed out, they’re matched in personality – both of them love that spotlight. Taika was gushing over Rita during a Vogue interview and there is now speculation that they may already be engaged. Rita recently posted and quickly deleted a photo of her hand with an emoji covering her ring finger. I think she’s just trolling us, with his approval, because if they were engaged, wouldn’t the Met Gala be the perfect time to announce?
