Dear Gossips,

Baseball, aka America’s pastime, is currently on a road trip. The MLB World Tour: Seoul Series has been happening all week with the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres playing each other yesterday and today but you may have seen a moment that went viral on Sunday during one of the four exhibition games.

Her name is Jeon Jong-seo and you may remember her from one of the greatest Korean films of all time, Burning. If you have not seen Burning, you can stream it now on Netflix. Or if you’re in New York City, a retrospective of director Lee Chang-dong’s work is screening at Metrograph in April. This is orgasmic for cinephiles. As for Jeon Jong-seo, she’s starring in one of the top K-dramas currently airing, Wedding Impossible.

Back to baseball though and another viral moment – as of this writing the Padres and Dodgers are playing their second of two games (that will count toward the regular season) and there are some celebrities in the audience.

Four HUGE celebrities! Lee Dong-wook, Gong Yoo, Son Ye-jin, and Hyun Bin.

I can’t overstate how big this is. They are the stars of some of the most popular, most watched K-dramas and films of all time. Gong Yoo, alone, has several of those on his own resumé with Coffee Prince, Train to Busan, Goblin, and oh a tiny little series called SQUID GAME. That’s your slapping recruiter, right there!

Lee Dong-wook of course is his co-star, and arguably romantic interest, lol, in Goblin. But he’s been a big deal ever since My Girl and obviously the more recent Tale of the Nine-Tailed is a huge work.

And then there’s the First Couple of the Korean star system, known to all shippers (me included) as BinJin. These are the romantic leads of the show I’m sure you’ve heard of even if you’ve never watched, Crash Landing On You, which, more than four years after it first premiered, remains one of Netflix’s most enduringly popular titles.

BinJin’s characters, their storyline, it’s basically legend at this point. And then they went and fell in love and got married and had a baby in real life!

And today, at the baseball game, we get all four of these icons sitting together and tossing crumbs at the fans! Because these people DO NOT WORK ENOUGH. I mean, they CAN work if and when they want to. But they’re all pretty selective about their work. So this is for our thirst. It’s definitely not quenched, but we needed the sprinkle!

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
