I’m calling it a Big Gold Dress, here on Natalie Portman, because while it’s not, like, it takes up a lot of real estate or anything but the way the dress looks on her it feels like it’s taking up more space than it should, you know?
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I think it’s too much dress for her? To me it looks like the dress is, literally, ON TOP of her, as opposed to be ON her. Is it the sleeves? The shoulders? Is it the belt?
I think it’s a bit of everything, especially the belt. I hate this belt. I hate how it looks with this dress. Like a little girl who went into her mother’s closet to play dress-up and puts on a sparkly thing and her eye catches another sparkly thing and another and another and pretty soon she’s wearing every sparkly thing she could find.
That doesn’t mean the dress is wrong. But the styling decision definitely was.
