Dear Gossips,
Let’s start the week with my favourite set of photos from the weekend. There were a lot of good photos released this weekend and we’ll get to most of them soon. But none of them are as delightful as these shots of Nicolas Cage at something called the Lawyers’ Ball in Vienna. They do a lot of balls over in Vienna. Probably the most famous Viennese ball is the Opera Ball. It’s hilariously cheesy and amazing and while Nic wasn’t at the specific Opera Ball which happened a few days ago, apparently it was a weekend full of balls where random celebrities show up and …well… here he is, looking appropriately confused but also, at the same time, rather comfortable. It’s a gift.
Maybe this is what the Oscars is missing: more Nicolas Cage. You know how the Oscars always trot out past winners to celebrate their legacy? It’s been a long time since Nic Cage has been at the Oscars. I mean, sure, he hasn’t done much work to get him to the Oscars but…wait… he’s Spider-Man Noir in Into the Spider-Verse, one of the BEST movies of 2018 which, really, should have been nominated in the Best Picture category.
So there could have been an official reason for Nic Cage to be there. Or maybe they invited him and he was like, nah, can’t, I have to be in Vienna for ball season…? Because, yeah, I would buy that too.
