Dear Gossips,   

Nicole Kidman at Chanel last night… I know we talked about it already but there’s a photo that Chanel released with the announcement that she is returning to the house as ambassador after over 20 years and, well, one might be an accident but two is a skill. 

 

And the skill is this: even though it’s obviously never her intention to get divorced, every time she does get divorced, she produces an iconic photo. 

The first one, I know you know. We all know, because the meme shows up every day somewhere on social media. Nicole knows the photos too, she is well aware of how they are used and the story that people have attached to it: that she was finally free of Tom Cruise and couldn’t contain her euphoria. 

 

In an interview last year while she was promoting Babygirl, Nicole told British GQ that the internet is wrong about what she was feeling in those images and that they’re actually from a film set. OK girl, but what’s the film? No one has been able to pinpoint a scene from a film she’s been in of her wearing this outfit. No one can name an unreleased film of Nicole's in which she could have worn this outfit. So people, including me, remain convinced that what we’re seeing represents a woman’s reaction to escaping alien abduction: 

 

Now, 25 years later, Nicole finds herself single once again. After days of reporting that Keith Urban was over their marriage and couldn’t get out of it quickly enough, as she was fighting to save it, Nicole rocks up at the most highly anticipated fashion show of the season, the first to wear what is becoming the most highly-coveted signature piece of Chanel’s new creative director’s debut collection – that white shirt – and serves up this f-cking banger of a photo. 

 

It’s a stupidly high degree of difficulty to look this cool getting out of a car and make it actually look like she was getting out of the car, naturally. But then again, a high degree of difficult c-ntery has never been a problem for Nicole Kidman. Or Nicole GODman, as this Twitter user accurately puts it.

She didn’t just eat, she devoured. She came to Paris to say that, yes, he left when I hoped he would stay. But even so, I still slay.
