Dear Gossips,
Well it’s crunch time now. About two weeks to go before Hollywood wraps it up for the year and everything slows down for the holidays and there’s so much to make up for after the strike and it’s award season and it’s suuuuuch a competitive year and, and, and, and, and…
So last night was the Academy Museum Gala which every year feels like a mini Oscars because if you want an Oscar nomination, you best show up to the Oscar fundraiser for their archive. Many of the artists who are in contention this year, and again it’s a very competitive year, were in attendance where Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, Sofia Coppola, and Michael B Jordan were honoured for their vision and leadership in the industry.
Michael B Jordan, however, wasn’t there – at least I haven’t seen any photos of him – because the night before he crashed his Ferrari into a parked car in LA. Thankfully there were no injuries and TMZ reports that there were no signs of impairment and therefore the LAPD did not perform a field sobriety test.
MBJ is OK, but for obvious reasons decided not to attend the Academy event and instead his family was there.
Can we talk about Oprah though? Because WOWWWW. Oprah in purple sequins might be on one of her best looks ever, and so fitting because in addition to being recognised with the Pillar Award for her advocacy over her career and for how much she’s helped out the museum, she’s also part of The Color Purple team as one of the producers and the film is in the Oscar conversation this year across multiple categories. So Oprah is out here campaigning… and serving looks.
There were so many looks, so many great looks. Because celebrities have not had the opportunity to show out this year as much as they usually do. And, you can tell, they f-cking missed it. We’ll get to some of that today, in addition to the other promotional events happening all over the place as Hollywood races to get in as much press as possible before the holidays. Also, yes, of course, we got a new episode of TNT this weekend. Buckle up for a busy week!
