I was in New York last weekend for the Transformers: Rise of the Beasts junket. The movie opened with $8.8 million last night in previews, which is an encouraging start, so it could be a solid weekend at the box office even with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse doing big business, too.
As for the movie, it’s what you’d expect from Transformers, so let me just focus on my favourite part of the movie which is Dominique Fishback. She is a delight. She is adorable as an archeologist who is using her knowledge of ancient history and hieroglyphics to help Anthony Ramos and the Autobots find a key that unlocks a portal to space, at least I think that’s what the key does.
Anyway, the point is, it’s great to see Dominique in a big budget action movie doing her thing and it’s great to see her out here all week promoting it in some serious drip.
Let’s start with Dominique in double Rodarte – first a flirty, lacy, floral piece:
And then a look she calls her Ice Butterfly with embellishment and wings. Gorgeous!
That was Singapore. In New York for daytime interviews, it was this red and white set – a structured jacket over a pencil skirt giving business and biker at the same time.
For the Brooklyn premiere she showed in mermaidcore: in a fitted sheer black top and a blue slinky wrap skirt.
And then for the London premiere last night, it was a showstopper. This pleated black bubble-tiered gown with delicate ruffle shoulders and the designer surprised me because this is Marchesa. To me, this does not read Marchesa. But I think it’s more about the person wearing the dress than the dress itself. Big style potential here with Dominique. And after this weekend, I have a feeling that there will be a lot more fashion options ahead, many more brands open to working with her. She looked GREAT this week. But we’re nowhere near the peak yet.
