More history happened in Cannes this weekend as Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine As Light, the first Indian film in competition in 30 years, wins the Grand Prix, making Payal the first Indian female director to screen in Cannes and receive this honour…which was presented by Viola Davis, who is a Cannes regular in her role as L’Oreal ambassador.

Viola’s in one of the best looks that we’ve seen all festival. Look at this stunning dress, black sequins, perfectly fitted to her body, with that striking white capelet around her shoulders…

…but as gorgeous as she looks in that gown, I’m partial to her jumpsuit – look how CUUUUUTE this is:

Elle Fanning is also a L’Oreal ambassador and she too showed up for the closing night gala in one of the best. For me it’s because this is so different from her usual princess ball gown looks. This dress is SO beautiful on her and if you look closely, it’s printed with tiny daisies creating an almost beaded effect – one of the best Sabato de Sarno red carpet dresses I’ve seen since he took over at Gucci.

If this is what we’ll be seeing more of with the Gucci reset, things do kinda look more promising.
