Harry hugs Jane

Prince Harry met with Dr Jane Goodall yesterday at Dr Goodall’s Roots & Shoots Global Leadership Meeting at Windsor Castle. They look like they’re hugging. What they’re really doing here is demonstrating for the kids who were at the event how chimps greet each other. First there’s a pat on the head, and then they come in for the embrace.

It’s so f-cking cute I can’t stand it. I love Dr Goodall’s expression, how even in her face she’s mimicking a chimp’s response. She and Harry are pretty delightful together. And she’s the living embodiment of the words he shared with the students:

"As my grandmother The Queen once said, ‘Sometimes the world's problems are so big we think we can do little to help’. On our own we cannot end wars or wipe out injustice, but the cumulative impact of thousands of small acts of goodness can be bigger than we imagine."

In other Harry news, since the ladies of House Cambridge and House Sussex seem to be getting on so well lately, the UK papers are trying a new angle. According to royal reporter Emily Andrews, via the Daily Mail, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor didn’t meet his Cambridge cousins, Big G, Charlotte, and Louis, until that day at the polo, so like two months after he was born. Prince William and Catherine visited Harry and Meghan Markle at Frogmore shortly after the birth, but the children were KEPT APART FOR TWO WHOLE MONTHS.

Is this a scandal? Or a scandale?

Do you want to be hanging out with little kids who aren’t yours when you’re dealing with a newborn? Did you know that according to very old Chinese custom, the baby isn’t seen for the first moon? After the first moon, the baby is presented at a banquet to the relatives. If we’re going strictly by tradition, the mother isn’t even supposed to see anyone or step out at all; she stays home and drinks special postpartum teas and soups. There’s a soup for everything in my culture. In modern times, obviously, this has been relaxed. But, seriously, is it that big of a f-cking deal that Will and Kate didn’t bring their three active, curious, very busy kids around to see Meghan and Harry and Archie? Or that Meghan and Harry may not have wanted to hang with three active, curious, very busy kids while they were getting used to being parents? If it were me, I’d be like, everyone stay the f-ck away from me while I figure out how to keep this thing alive. Or, what? Are you telling me it’s easy?
