The weather was reportedly cool-ish and comfortable in LA for the Emmys last night but I still don’t believe that Priyanka Chopra wasn’t sweating profusely in this feathery Balmain, long-sleeved sweater dress. I like her and really wanted to like this dress but every time I looked at her I felt sweaty. This dress would be appropriate for the JUNOs, when the red carpet always takes place at the tail-end of cruel Canadian winters (why, though?). In theory, I might even like this dress if the Emmys were a winter carpet. But they’re not. And I will spend the rest of the day wondering how Priyanka managed not to sweat her face off in this cocoon.

There’s also too much going on. The simple ponytail is a nice contrast to the complexity of the dress but the dark makeup is overwhelming. Usually, I’ll be iffy on a dress in photographs and then like it much better in video. Priyanka posted a slow-motion glamour video of the dress and after watching it a few times, I have not changed my mind. 


Priyanka presented with Anthony Anderson and the announcer pronounced her name wrong, like “Chop-AH” instead of “Chop-RAH.” Nope. Priyanka Chopra is now an awards show staple. Get her name right.
