Dear Gossips,
If you’ve been visiting this site over the years, you may know that Halloween is …not my favourite. Scary sh-t isn’t my sh-t. That said, I do participate in certain ways. Like, I don’t want to be the house that doesn’t pass out candy since I remember what I thought of those houses when I was a kid. Not that I’m the house that gives out full-size bars (which is NOT a myth – there’s one in my neighbourhood now!) but you will get a treat if you walk by my place. This year, since we’re still in a pandemic, I put up a sign telling kids to help themselves to the candy in a basket on the porch and I refilled it every half an hour or so. My favourite was peeking out the window and seeing a girl about three or four years old, dressed as an angel, sitting on my front steps, carefully picking through what she wanted. It was really cute. Then it occurred to me…
LOL, am I the old lady in the movies that all the neighbourhood children are afraid of and then run away when they see movement in the curtains?
Maybe, but not when Halloween is over. Because our house is not dark and grumpy for the holidays. We’re lit up and festive and finally… it’s the season. It’s HER season.
Who?
Oh, come on. You know.
Mariah Carey, the Queen of Christmas, is ready to take over. And this is never not amazing – the fact that no other celebrity has dominated a holiday, any holiday, the way Mimi has dominated Christmas. Imagine being as synonymous with Christmas as Santa Claus?
Anyway, Mimi appears to be teasing something on November 5, Friday. Is it a new sexy elf costume? Another Christmas special? Mimi’s Christmas was more muted than usual last year because of COVID. So this Christmas will likely be even more extra than it typically is. Get your bells ready – Mimi is coming.
Yours in gossip,
Lainey
