I cannot remember the last time I cared about what Rachel Brosnahan wore to an event, but she showed up last night in an incredible dress and I let out an audible gasp reaction when I saw it on my TV.
The gown is by Versace, the color is oxblood, the safety pins are immediately recognizable. Like I didn’t even need Rachel to say the gown was by Versace, the safety pins gave it away. But it’s such a good use of the safety pins! It’s not trying to be THE safety pin dress, while still evoking the iconic Versace design.
And she’s styled perfectly – sleek dark hair, metallic sandals, the great jewelry (by Suzanne Kalan). It’s a little bit edgy without feeling like Rachel is trying to be something she’s not (namely: a Goth).
Duana pointed out that Rachel always styles her multiple ear piercings, which not everyone does. But this is great, the jewelry compliments the metal detailing on the dress without looking matchy-matchy, her styling isn’t overwhelming a dress with a lot going on. Dare I say, I am getting excited for Rachel’s Lois Lane era? I’m already enjoying this style more than her Maisel era.
