Dear Gossips,

It’s Oscar nomination day, and we’ll have coverage about that later today. It is also BTS pre-sale day and I have been a mess about this all week. This open has been written in advance and probably by the time you read it I’ll be in a full panic along with millions of other people around the world trying to secure tickets to see RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook. And millions is not an exaggeration, I saw somewhere that ARMY membership has surged to 30 million in the days after the tour stops were announced. Helppppp….

And that’s my segue to Rachel McAdams, LOL. Her new movie, Send Help, directed by Sam Raimi and co-starring Dylan O’Brien, opens on January 30. The way it used to work in the business, January was for sh-t movies but this has not necessarily been the trend the last few years and it definitely doesn’t seem to be the case for Send Help. As Sarah noted after the trailer dropped this film looks great – comedy and horror and revenge and… well… just Rachel McAdams is enough. Because it’s been a minute.

Yesterday Rachel received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Of course she deserves one (for her body of work but, like, The Notebook alone would be enough considering the cultural impact of that film) but also, the timing and motivation here of course is tied to Send Help promotion, as both Sam and Dylan were the ones who showed up, along with Domhnall Gleason, who worked with her in About Time and gave a hilarious speech.

Send Help apparently tested through the roof and that’s lining up with early reactions after the premiere last night. One critic described it as “hilariously mean” – which tracks because this is about an underappreciated and exploited employee f-cking up her f-ckass boss. Nobody needs that to be warm and fuzzy… which, perhaps, is why this movie is coming out in January because in January, I guess, we are bleak and blue.

Anyway, let’s be charmed by Rachel and that sweet smile, which can turn diabolical on a dime (for a character) and she’s putting it to good use in this movie. Kinda like… Regina George for these dark times.
