I can’t remember the last time we saw Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig on the red carpet, can you? Definitely not in 2017. Maybe 2016? The point is it doesn’t happen often. I last posted about them in December after they spent the holidays in Paris. And now here they are last night in New York, co-chairing The Opportunity Network’s 11th Annual Night of Opportunity. So that checks off our quarterly update on whether or not they’re fine, probably an increasing necessity these days with celebrity couples given the reaction online whenever a celebrity relationship comes to an end. Last week, when Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan announced their separation, Twitter fell into a “LOVE IS OVER!” black hole and I’m not sure it’s recovered.
I know what you’re going to say though. About Rachel and Daniel as you’re looking through these photos. I can almost guarantee that every magazine and entertainment outlet is wondering the same thing and trying to make as many calls as they can to find out. Until then, here are some photos of Rachel a couple of weeks ago at another event:
Rachel’s next film is Yorgos Lanthimos’s The Favourite, also starring Emma Stone and Olivia Colman about two women (Rachel and Emma) who compete at court for the affection of the Queen. It’s a period piece. It’s royal intrigue. It’s Girl Sh-t among the royal entourage. I can’t f-cking wait for this movie and, seeing how popular Yorgos is at Cannes, there’s a possibility the film will screen in competition there next month. Cate Blanchett is the jury president. I feel like Cate would 100% appreciate a film like The Favourite. The festival should be announcing its lineup any day now. Last month Deadline reported that The Favourite might not be ready in time for Cannes. Which, if that’s really the case, is good news for TIFF and/or the Venice Film Festival because that’s a major showcase for those festivals and, if The Favourite lives up to expectations, given Yorgos Lanthimos’s previous work and the cast, a possible kickstart to awards possibilities in the fall.
