If you visit this site often, you might be familiar with my affinity for Thom Browne. Thom Browne is my whole style lane. So the Thom Browne show, for me, is the New York Fashion Week presentation that I look forward to the most. And look who Thom Browne was able to bring out – a person who stays super undercover, so when she shows up, you know it’s a big deal: Janet Jackson.
It’s giving Rhythm Nation meets Harlem Nights, such a good look on her, and I particularly love the hair choice, the pig tails. Janet is 57, she’s in pig tails, and it’s not a f-cking problem. This is a bone for me because I’m a little younger than she is and I’m also in pig tails a lot for television and have been yelled at for it: stop trying to be a teenager, you old bitch. It’s not about being a teenager, and Janet’s not trying to be a teenager. It just looks good – is there an age limit on sh-t that looks good?
Danai Gurira, a Thom Browne regular, was also at the show, carrying the now famous dog bag and looking sharp in this black jacket with the white piping:
Speaking of white piping, OMG look at Queen Latifah! It’s a puffed robe with a bit of an Asian vibe worn over a black suit and tie with a white shirt and showcase of the variety that Thom Browne can bring to a collection.
Janet and Latifah were seated next to each other in the front row and, seriously, what a flex for Thom Browne that this was his audience:
Taking it back to classic Thom Browne aesthetic – can we talk about Havana Rose Liu? This shorts set is a whole TB vibe but I’m just obsessed with her, period. You’ll recognise Havana from Bottoms and I hope that’s just the beginning. Put her in everything, look at this face!
As for my favourite look from the new collection? All of them, obviously, but if I could only pick one it would be this dress. I was joking with someone this morning that I would sell a kidney to wear it, but maybe I’m not joking because this is the picture I’m going to dream about for weeks.
