Reese Witherspoon was seen at LAX with her daughter, Ava, and husband and son, Tennessee yesterday. They ended up landing in Paris. Paris for Thanksgiving? Yes. But also for the ball.
There’s a debutante ball every year in Paris – Bal des Debutantes. Jamie Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, has been a debutante. Also Tallulah and Scout Willis. This year it’s Ava’s turn. She’s one of six American young women who’ll be part of the event. Le Bal will raise money this year for Seleni Institute, providing support for mental health and specifically teen mothers.
Traditionally a debutante ball marks a young woman’s entrance into society, right? I’m not sure if that still applies since society, these days, often applies to social media. You’ve basically entered society the minute you’re on Instagram or Snapchat. That said, given that Ava’s mother is one of the most famous women in Hollywood society, I wonder if this might be a symbolic move, signaling Ava’s entrance not into “society” but into the business.
According to Vanity Fair, Ava will be wearing Giambattista Valli at the ball. Elle Woods is the mom of a debutante. Holy sh-t that happened fast.
