The first Met Gala I ever covered, in person, was in 2008. The theme was Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. It was a wild year, a wild time in celebrity gossip. Just to give you an idea of what was happening back then… Tom Cruise was there, with Katie Holmes. It was mayhem.
Anyway, I bring this up because in 2008, I saw Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady together with my own eyes. My friend Lara and I were working the event together – and we both experienced it the same way: like totally speechless over how stupidly attractive these two were together.
This was the first time they posted together at the Met Gala. Tom attended with Gisele the year before but they weren’t serving in 2007 the way they served in 2008. In 2008 they were making a point – as if to say, look at us, we are the new power couple.
They were not yet engaged, but you could tell they were on their way. And then he proposed and they got married and they had children and they attended many Met Galas together. In fact, I’m pretty sure every Met Gala that Gisele’s been at in subsequent years was with Tom.
But it’s a new era now. Gisele and Tom are no more. Gisele is in New York. It would seem that Gisele will be headed back to the red steps for the first time in a long time as a single. Unless of course her Jiu-Jitsu instructor, Joaquim Valente, shows up. And if he does… it’s not just about Jiu-Jitsu.
While Gisele’s returning to the Met Gala with a status change, same goes, maybe, for Bad Bunny? Benito was at the Met Gala last year. His look was radical:
Benito was seen in NYC this weekend having dinner with Kendall Jenner. They tried to avoid getting photographed together but it’s not like we don’t know. Will they premiere themselves, officially, tonight on those red steps?
From a rookie couple to a veteran one – Cardi B and Offset arrived at their hotel in matching black leather Balenciaga. At the risk of Cardi tearing me a new one, I feel like Offset is, um, trying to be A$AP Rocky. It’s not hitting the same though, is it?
