A Family of Rs

Rihanna has always been generous throughout her pregnancies. Obviously not intentionally for us but in continuing to step out and do her thing, without worrying about being seen, it’s worked out as an update on her status.

As of yesterday, Rihanna hadn’t been clearly papped in two weeks, so I don’t think it was a surprise for those paying attention that she and Rocky’s third child had arrived. And yesterday, she posted the confirmation. 

Rocki Irish Mayers is swaddled in pink, and Rihanna’s watch even has a pink face, but in case that wasn’t clear enough, the second photo, of the tiny baby boxing gloves, triples down on the news that she is the family princess. As expected, the youngest member shares a first initial with her parents and her two older siblings. Rocki with an “i” is adorable. Rocki Irish Mayers has good flow, as does RZA, Riot, and Rocki. These are three names that belong together, that make sense together, and not just because of the Rs. It’s a combination of soft and hard sounds. The purring of the Rs compliments the punch of the Cs, Ts, and Zs. As the children of two musicians specialising in hip-hop and R&B, the trio comes together in a funky rhythm and also, all three work as ready-made stage names.
