You know what we’ll be talking about two weeks from today? The Met Gala. It happens on Monday, May 1 which means that all of our timelines will be all Met Gala on Tuesday, May 2. The theme this year is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, meant to celebrate his vision at Chanel, Fendi, Lagerfeld, Chloé, and Balmain. So basically there will be a lot of people wearing bouclé and gloves. I’m kidding… but not really. Penelope Cruz is repping Chanel as one of the co-chairs alongside Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa.

But if there is one celebrity, above all others, who dominates the Met Gala, it’s Rihanna. Rihanna wasn’t at the Met Gala last year because her due date was so close to the event (at least that’s one of the reasons) and she’s reportedly due a little later this time with her second pregnancy so… will she show up?

I mean, obviously, everyone wants her to, including, I’m sure, Anna Wintour. Met Galas without Rihanna aren’t the same. If and when we know she’ll be there, there’s an added layer of anticipation, of barely restrained frenzy – we’re basically clenching the whole time until she arrives, at which point all the wigs go flying and no one can breathe.

Right now there’s no word about attendance. But… she was in Paris last night, seen out for dinner at 2am, naturally, with her best friend Melissa Forde, wearing the sh-t out of a strapless tube top with a built-in muff, and sure, there are a hundred reasons why RiRi might be in Paris but might one of them be for a fitting for the Met Gala?

She was photographed at dinner with Rocky wearing a Fendi piece from 1999 – it’s this patchwork coat, designed by Karl Lagerfeld.

This means that she’s been going through the archives – and if she’s going through the archives less than two weeks away from the Met Gala, well, what does it mean? And if she does show up at the Met Gala in something else from the archive, it’ll mean that Rihanna’s choosing a sustainable look, which would be her first time going in that direction at the Met Gala.
