Just under five weeks to go now until Rihanna’s 12-minute concert. She posted a video on Sunday to start the countdown and, hilariously, didn’t put much into it. Because she doesn’t need to. It’s not like the anticipation isn’t already high. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Rihanna perform live.

As you can see, Rihanna took the opportunity there to promote her own label using the NFL’s platform. That reminds me of all the jokes that people were making on social media when it was first announced that she would be headlining the halftime show. Like this one, which is still funny to me:

Here’s a more recent one:

Jokes aside though, what people will take very seriously on halftime day is the set list. When you are Rihanna, and there are SO MANY songs, how do you put together a set list that makes everyone happy? This, apparently, is the goal.
Director Adam Blackstone says he and Rihanna are working on curating the perfect setlist for her Super Bowl halftime:

“Everyone who is a fan has their different moments of who Rihanna is to them and what each song means to them. We want to try to give a little bit to everybody.†pic.twitter.com/8ummhqYEjJ
But the goal is also merch. And Savage x Fenty has released a new collection ahead of the founder’s performance, playing up on the fact that a lot of people don’t give a sh-t about the game (me included) and only care about her 12 minutes in the middle of it.
Note the t-shirt:
At this point Rihanna’s working now to finalise the set list and start rehearsals, if she hasn’t already. But it seems like she’ll be taking a break tonight to attend the Golden Globe Awards where she’s a nominee for “Lift Me Up” from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association posted a video of the seating plan last night. Rihanna. That’s the table everyone wants to be at.
