I’m not going to get into the full breadth and depth of my hatred for the arrivals setup of the Oscars, suffice to say, I hated it with the fire of ten thousand suns and it did everyone who wore white/ neutrals/ pastels dirty. Literally! That carpet was dirty!
So it was with relief that I saw Cara Delevingne in this crimson number by Elie Saab. It pops! She doesn’t look washed out! She defeated that dusty rug!
But in its own right, this is an amazing look. The shoulder detail, the split skirt, the flawless fit, the statement necklace, the sleek hair which suits this look perfectly (so often people wear the wrong hair with their dress, but with a dress of this much volume, keeping the hair sleek is a nice balance), all of it perfect. And it has pockets! Or one pocket, anyway.
Plus, Cara looks confident, she looks healthy, she looks like she’s feeling herself. She recently spoke to Vogue about her recovery journey, and at least last night, she looks like she’s in a good place. This is one of the only gowns that made me gasp aloud and didn’t make me feel bad for the wearer and her stylist because of that ugly ass carpet. For that, Cara is my best dressed.
