It’s been a minute since we’ve seen Scarlett Johansson with her hair loose and let down around her face. Scarlett stepped out last night at the God’s Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York. It’s a pretty simple outfit – just a little black dress with pumps, and I disagree with the choice to wear sheer tights here – so she put the action in her hair and makeup.
Let’s start with the eyes because last week I was on Princess Kate for outdated smoky eye and here we have an example of a more of-the-moment technique. You’ll note Scarjo’s eye makeup here is heavy… and yet it’s not diminishing the glow of her face the way Kate’s did.
That’s because the shadow has been well-blended, focusing the darker colours on the crease and spreading out to lighter at the top of the lid and rounded out. You will also note the use of lighter colour in the inner corners with a hint of shimmer. It’s not a sparkle but it’s sheer enough to pick up the light and brighten the eye over all as well as pick up the highlight on her cheeks. Kate doesn’t have to give up the smoky eye – she just has to figure out the right technique, and get a new palette!
To go back to Scarjo’s hair though – it’s slightly longer than we’ve seen her wear it in a while and I like the changeup. I like the messy part and the casual tousle around her face. For a while there we were only seeing her pull it back, either all the way or half way or up on one side. Seeing it like this last night, then, kinda felt like a statement? I wonder how she’ll wear it for the next outing.
