It was a big weekend for Selena Gomez in New York. First, she and her friends were at the Sabrina Carpenter show the other night and the group included Edgar Ramirez. Connor Franklin, one of Selena’s BFFs, posted this video of everyone dancing up on each other and the internet had some sh-t to say about Selena and Edgar because Edgar is not her boyfriend, Benny Blanco.
Selena’s response: “omg how I dare I dance with my bestie”.
Selena Gomez responds to media and online trolls having a issue with her dancing with Edgar Ramirez at a concert 😉🔥

She then posted a video of herself dancing, a video of her clearly feeling herself, which she has since taken down, but you can see it here.
But it’s just the latest example of Selena’s complicated relationship with social media that she’s struggled with her entire career. People can’t help themselves on socials where Selena is concerned and, sometimes, she can’t help herself either. Which is why she is always on and off, quitting and unquitting.
Lately, though, she’s been on socials a lot more and, from my vantage point, seems to have a healthier approach to it. Maybe she’s figured out the balance in what’s real and what’s not real. Social media can be addictive and destructive but it’s not real. What is real is the work. And there is so much good work she can be proud of right now.
Only Murders in the Building continues to be delightful in its fourth season and has now been renewed for a fifth. Last night was the premiere of Emilia Pérez at the New York Film Festival. Selena and her castmates, Karla Sofia Gascón, Zoe Saldana, and Adriana Paz were all named Best Actress in Cannes. Everyone I know who saw it at TIFF a few weeks ago is obsessed. It’s the frontrunner for the Best International Film Oscar and experts are already calling for it to be nominated for Best Picture. Netflix is putting major campaign resources behind it. And Selena is the most famous and most followed face attached to the project. So to go back to my point about feeling herself – Selena’s on a professional high, and it looks really, really good on her.
