The word “legend” is used to describe people often too liberally. At SickKids, though, there are legends all over the place, all of them working and seeking treatment at a legendary institution that has served generations of children and their families. They are the doctors, nurses, researchers, and other staff who bring their knowledge, expertise and care to the young patients they’re treating. They are the patients, new and old, battling childhood illnesses.
These young patients are the real legends staring down their obstacles every day, and “while they may be small in stature, their stories are as big as they come”. They may not be on the cover of magazines, and they may not be on the big screen, their sacrifice and courage and work is unseen, but they truly are the ultimate warriors.
