So many games, actually!
In this episode of Show Your Work, Duana and I begin with Jared Leto and the story in The Hollywood Reporter the other day about how he had a suck attack over Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker. What do you do you when someone is better at your job than you are? Because, well, that’s kinda what happened to Jared Leto – even before Joaquin came on the scene, since Sarah started referring to him as “Third Best Joker” back in the time of Suicide Squad. Duana also asks a question about playing Joker that, well, I wish I came up with myself.
Next… Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – House Sussex is taking on the tabloids and, possibly, the royal courtiers. I’ve posted extensively about their grievances but on this podcast, Duana wants to unpack the endgame: what is it? Because, as we’ve seen, they may have a fight on their hands but this couple has always been really strategic about the moves they’re making. Every strategy has an intended outcomes. What’s theirs? Attached – Meghan of House Sussex yesterday at the One Young World Summit where thousands of young leaders gathered in the spirit of advocacy and activism.
Then it’s Greta Gerwig’s Little Women – will it be THE definitive Little Women film adaptation? There are a lot of people who think that the 1994 version is the best, including our site manager Emily. All due respect to that one, and you know I love Winona Ryder, but we’re arguing that Greta’s will become the classic because of Greta’s specific approach to the source material. We used Greta’s comments in Entertainment Weekly for reference.
Finally…we’re making you listen to us playing Heads Up because Duana thinks she’s the better clue giver, which is true, but I think I’m the better guesser, which is true, but not just because she’s giving the clues. Heads Up is an entertainment pop quiz. We should study it every week.
THANK YOU, as always, for listening. Please subscribe to us wherever you get your podcasts and we’d really love if you left comments and reviews because it helps us shape the show but also because we’re thirsty and it helps us reach a wider audience. Back next week!
