The big Hollywood premiere of The Color Purple happened last night and… the fashion that this cast and Oprah have been throwing down, my GOD.
Let’s start with the Mighty O because we saw her kill it in purple at the Academy Museum Gala last weekend and she was back in purple on the red carpet and now I want to know how much more purple she’ll be serving through this award season, since the film, which she produced alongside Steven Spielberg (who was also there) is a contender. Of course it is, Oprah’s out here campaigning hard for it.
As noted though, it’s not just Oprah’s looks, it’s EVERYONE. Check out Colman Domingo who is actually contending for Oscar nominations in both acting categories for his work in The Color Purple and Rustin. The suit is wonderful… but the shoes! These heeled boots!

Danielle Brooks, like Oprah, was also in purple with a veil but my favourite of her outfits this week was the denim dress she wore to the ELLE Women in Hollywood event the night before. Look at this!
And then of course there was Taraji, bringing it as usual, a sculpture in black and white, dripping in Bulgari.
I’m telling you, this entire press tour for this entire cast has been fire. Like on the same level as what Margot Robbie and Andrew Mukamal for Barbie – only that’s just one person, this is several people! Including Fantasia Barrino who has just been popping off with these looks. And last night continued that run with Fantasia in head to toe polka dots – a risk that pays off big. We’re seeing so much variety from her, every choice has been dramatic but different. So credit to her stylist Daniel Hawkins because they obviously decided that this award season was going to be Fantasia’s crownig as a fashion queen, holy sh-t.
And finally… Ciara. It’s just a white cape and pants. LOL, “just”. Ciara is wearing the sun parting the clouds. Her golden child pushing through the white mist. A king’s crowning at the top of a snow-covered mountain. What a slayyyyy.
