The Fug Girls are right – this is indeed a very Rooney Mara outfit. And it’s great. I love the boxy short jacket exposing the lace in the mid-section going into a drop full skirt, very much the same aesthetic but really well-constructed. It’s Alexander McQueen, which surprises me, not because it doesn’t look like a McQueen but because when I think Rooney, I think Givenchy, that’s her usual fashion house. (Go Fug Yourself)
Two weeks after announcing his breakup with Camila Cabello, Shawn Mendes has released a breakup ballad and, well, is anyone surprised? Music is personal, of course, and the magic of it is that it can connect people. But a ballad that works for me doesn’t necessarily mean it works for me. I’m not saying I can’t get down with a breakup ballad (I listen to enough Adele, after all) but a few of these lyrics took me right out. Even if you’re not American I hope you care about this story. Because it’s a human rights issue. Reproductive choice is a human rights issue. And it’s looking very much like Roe v Wade will be overturned in the United States very, very soon. Which means there will be women who will be forced to go to extreme lengths over a decision that affects their bodies and don’t put the greater public at risk. (Cele|bitchy)
