As mentioned in today’s open, even though there are always a lot of celebrities in New York on any given day, it feels extra loaded right now because the Met Gala is coming up soon. There was also the TIME 100 event last night which brought a lot of celebrities from LA.
Like Austin Butler and Kaia Gerber who actually walked the carpet together and I’m pointing this out because during his award season run, Austin was mostly on his own. Kaia showed up to certain events to support him but they seemed to make a point of staying apart on carpets until right after the Oscars when they showed up for the Vanity Fair party together. Presumably they didn’t want their relationship to be a distraction from his campaign.
Austin and Kaia were both at the Met Gala last year – you’ll recall, her hair was one of the best styles of the night.
If they’re already in NYC now, probably a good bet we’ll see them again this year.
Other highlights from the TIME 100 – we saw a lot of Ke Huy Quan during award season, and it was a LONG award season. Since winning the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, Ke’s kept a pretty low profile. But he was in New York last night because how could they not include him on the list of most influential people given the run he’s had over the last year? Ke was in Ke form which is to say he was the most energetic, the most delightful, the most endearing, and as humble as ever.
I hope Ke is included on Anna Wintour’s Met Gala list.
And same goes for Jennifer Coolidge who is living her best style life right now. Look at her in this black dress with the embellished shoulders, cuff, and hem. She looks amazing.
As does Angela Bassett, not surprisingly. The sequined suit is outstanding. But this neckpiece!!!
Can we talk about Steve Lacy because this man is always serving a look. The fit of these pants is perfect. I am obsessed with the top too, the sheer layer over that wrap underneath – this is why he was named Rolling Stone’s most stylish musician.
We have seen Doja Cat over the last year take her style to the next level. And she’s never ever been to the Met Gala. It’s time though, right? It’s TIME. So let’s predict it – Doja Cat will make her Met Gala debut on Monday.
Michael B Jordan in purple. It’s the best way to end a post.
