The Wedding Banquet opens this weekend, which means Lily Gladstone is back in our lives, and this time she’s in a rom-com. I love it when actors known for heavy work get to cut loose—which is why I am currently plotting The Pitt spin-off Dr. Robby’s Relaxing Day Off During which Nothing Of Note Happens in my mind—so I am very much looking forward to Lily’s time in a rom-com. I’ll have a review of The Wedding Banquet later this week.

The premiere for The Wedding Banquet was last night, bringing out Lily, in a structured suit and GREAT earrings, along with her co-stars Kelly Marie Tran dressed like a bouquet, Bowen Yang dressed like a kid detective, and Han Gi-chan dressed like a normal adult. Director Andrew Ahn was also on hand, as were Youn Yuh-jung and Joel Kim Booster in a fantastic patterned suit. I feel like everyone theme-dressed for a different event.

This is probably not the last we’ll see of Lily this year as she has a couple of films in the hopper. She’s got that assassination thriller with Bryan Cranston (head trip: The Pitt’s beloved Dr. Mel is played by Taylor Dearden…Cranston), and then she’s back in comedy mode(!!) with a film called Memoriam. It’s from Rob Burnett—longtime producer of David Letterman and TV shows like Ed and Strangers with Candy—and it’s about a terminally ill actor who becomes obsessed with being in the Oscars’ “in memoriam” segment. Dark! But besides Lily, it co-stars Sharon Stone, Judy Greer, and Regina Hall. That is a line up! Lily Gladstone co-starring with That Hot Bitch, Everybody’s Bestie Judy, and THEE Regina Hall? I love this for her. So she lost an Oscar. Lily Gladstone stays winning.
