The world needs more Simone Ashley and she is here to deliver with new rom-com, Picture This

Dear Gossips,

Sorry to whine at you to start the day but I promise you there’s a point at the end of this – because it’s been a long week, I’m going on ten straight days of work, with three back-to-back 18 hour days and two all-nighters so what I need this weekend is my couch, some gummies, and romance and comedy. The good news is that Simone Ashley is here to deliver.

Simone’s been in New York this week promoting her new movie, Picture This. It’s the kind of rom-com that now feels like a throwback to the ones from the 90s and 2000s starring either Kate Hudson or Cameron Diaz, maybe with a dash of Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding.

Picture This is based on an Australian film called Five Blind Dates and Simone stars as Pia who’s been told that the love of her life will be one of her next five dates as her family and friends all meddle in the situation while she tries to focus on her career. All the tropes are here! Nosy relatives, a wedding, a wonderfully c-nty best friend, and of course… an ex. The ex is played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin who has a cult online following from those sh-tty After movies. Hero is a lot cuter here thanks to Simone. And PS. He’s also the nephew of Ralph and Joseph Fiennes.

This, really, is about Simone though. She is our “Kate”, the breakout star of Bridgerton season two. The romantic heroine of our time! We’ve been screaming for two years that the world needs more Simone Ashley and now we get to spend a couple of hours x repeat viewings watching her and her bone structure (this will make sense if you’ve watched the trailer – see below) figure herself out and then fall in love … because isn’t that what rom-coms are all about?

And then there’s her promo wardrobe. This coat and these shorts. That ponytail! No notes! Flip through the carousel and there’s also a tweet jacket that is excellent.
