Yellow in Chinese culture is the colour of royalty. Kris Aquino is not Chinese royalty but she’s practically a queen in the Philippines and she plays a princess in Crazy Rich Asians. So it’s fitting that she wore yellow to the premiere last night. Of course she’d be in yellow. The only one in yellow. I’m not sure that was even a question mark. It’s definitely a regal look – both to honour the character and herself.
For the uninitiated, Kris comes from a very high profile family. And she has served some very high profile drama. This is a dramatic dress, like a flower that blooms at a certain hour on one given night, kinda like what happens at Tyersall Park. If you’ve read the book, you know about the party at Tyersall Park.
