Nicole Kidman: Single and Everywhere
It hasn’t even been a week and a half since the bombshell gossip broke that Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are over. Here at LaineyGossip we’ve been talking about the rollout of this news, and the timing too. Word that they’d split was initially reported on a Monday, that Keith wanted out and she’d been trying to save the marriage. The next day she filed for divorce and TMZ called the decision “abrupt” since their daughter, Sunday, was at Paris Fashion Week walking in the Dior show. And then Nicole’s big moment at Chanel came a few days later. As I’ve been saying, all of this would suggest that Keith’s been checked out of not only their relationship but their family schedule if the push to get it out there was presumably coming from him. And the result? F-ck around and find out.
Because she has been stomping him in PR even though she may not have intended it to be this way… had he not, apparently, jumped the gun. Had there been some pause to consider that he was putting it on blast that he wanted a divorce right when she was about to be EVERYWHERE, looolllll.
Paris Fashion Week. Serving an iconic look. Returning as ambassador to kick off major fashion house’s new era. And now… covering Vogue. Not just any issue either. This is the Vogue World issue and Vogue World is one of Anna Wintour’s biggest priorities, second only probably to the Met Gala. She’s been trying to make Vogue World almost as influential as the Met Gala and this year’s Vogue World is happening in Hollywood. So Nicole is one of three Hollywood actresses who are covering the November issue to promote Vogue World, alongside Greta Lee and Ayo Edebiri – the internet is obsessed with all of them.
Right now, though, gossip is obsessed with Nicole because she is setting a new c-nt standard for “suddenly single”.
The interview only alludes to Nicole’s relationship status change, added after the fact. But there’s a lot here that adds to her c-nty aura. The piece reminds the reader that Nicole pledged a few years ago to not go longer than 18 months without working with a female director and has thrived while fulfilling that promise. There’s also a paragraph about how she has remained sexual and desirable onscreen as she has aged. And of course a lot detail about how she became a fashion icon, the effect she has on a dress or a suit, how her approach to fashion is grounded in her respect for other artists.
That comes through in the GRWM video with Vogue that also includes her glam squad, and Jason Bolden in particular. Their collaboration has taken her style legend to a whole other level and at one point, Jason talks about one of the keys to that success: her trust. Nicole allows artists around her to be artists, and as a true artist herself, she gives them space to be creative; she willingly and completely becomes their vessel. That quality is what makes Nicole Kidman one of the greatest actors of her generation – and we hear all the f-cking time about the men who go full method and annoy the f-ck out of everyone around them but not enough about the quiet grace of a female artist who approaches art as a collective process.
This is the messaging we’re getting about Nicole Kidman right now as she steps into a chapter of her life she never planned for. It’s a great look on her. And a terrible one on someone else.
