How are you doing with your crush on Timothee Chalamet? Is it starting to wane now that award season is over or, since Call Me By Your Name is available on demand now, have you been able to sustain it? If you do have a Timothee Chalamet problem, it might get worse after you watch the trailer to his new film Hot Summer Nights. Which is a GREAT title all by itself and I don’t know why there haven’t been more movies called Hot Summer Nights because I’m instantly interested.
I thought Hot Summer Nights would be kinda like Dirty Dancing, only from a teen boy’s perspective, because Timmy plays a teen boy spending the summer in Cape Cod. This is not Dirty Dancing. This is a teen boy who does fall for a girl, only she’s the younger sister of the local dope dealer he starts working with. And it’s set in the 90s.
God his face, right?
He has such a pretty face, I can’t. Many of you can’t. Even John Mulaney can’t.

Timothee was in three films last year – two of them went to the Oscars (CMBYN and Lady Bird) and another was a well-reviewed longshot (Hostiles). He has three more films due out this year, including Hot Summer Nights. Beautiful Boy, with Steve Carell, is about a father of a meth addict and the experience of living and loving through addiction. It will be released in the fall so, basically, they’re hoping for some awards. Our Timmy problem will continue through 2018.
PS. I have a quibble. Well, actually, it’s more than a quibble. It’s the kind of thing that starts off as a quibble but turns into a major irritation for someone like me because I’m so f-cking petty. This film takes place, again, in the early 90s. But at the 1:43 mark of the trailer above, Maika Monroe checks to make sure that Timmy isn’t “part of anything shady”. SHADY is so not 1990s. It took me right out of the moment.
