Zendaya became the big story coming out of the Golden Globes on Sunday after she arrived wearing a ring on that finger, prompting speculation that she and Tom Holland are engaged – which was confirmed yesterday first by TMZ and then by multiple entertainment outlets including PEOPLE. Apparently he proposed over the holidays.

Yesterday Zendaya attended a FYC screening in LA for Challengers, alongside Luca Guadagnino and other members of the production team. Oscar nomination voting begins tomorrow and the film probably doesn’t have much of a chance but I appreciate that they’re still going for it, maybe hoping for some SAG, PGA, or DGA inclusion? The point is, she’s staying visible even though she’s a major heatscore right now, more so than usual, because of the engagement.

As mentioned in my post about the ring and the Globes yesterday, Zendaya is not a novice celebrity, she’s been at this for a long time. She is well aware of the public fascination with her and the interest in her relationship. Tomdaya is the internet’s favourite couple, people have been obsessed with them for years – including here. She could have not worn her ring at the Globes and she could have chosen not to wear the ring for the screening, especially since she would have known that she was such a big headline.

So what’s cute about this is that, despite being so famous for so long, there are just certain experiences that, whether you’re a celebrity or not, are relatable and even shareable. She’s so giddy about being engaged, so excited about being engaged, that even she can’t help but want to tell it to the world.

I love this for her, and I love this for him. Tom Holland is already Zendaya’s biggest fan. He is thrilled for himself. She has agreed to marry him, and now she’s broadcasting it, proudly, to the world. The happiness overflows. This is the feel-good gossip we needed to the start the year.

Probably won’t be much of it, so let’s enjoy this for what it is.

Also her look last night – high pony with the thick bangs…over a leather blazer and a tutu, SO good.
